Delete your Hordelane data

Hordelane: Zombie Survival — published by Roy Greenberg

The gameplay statistics Hordelane records do not identify you: there is no name, no email address, no contact details and no advertising identifier. What it does record is anonymous gameplay information — which stage was played, how it ended, how long it took — tagged with a random DATA ID so that a deletion request can be matched to the right records. Those records are what the request below deletes.

Backing your progress up to Google Play Games is a separate, optional sign-in, and the only part of the game that involves an account at all. The game is fully playable without it. That backup is not covered by the request below, because it is not ours to delete — see your Play Games backup.

How to request deletion

  1. Open Hordelane on your device.
  2. Tap the AUDIO / settings button in the lobby.
  3. Find the line reading DATA ID, followed by a random 12-character code such as A5514E11EEA5. Tap it — the code is copied to your clipboard and the screen confirms it. The code is yours alone and appears nowhere else.
  4. Paste it into an email to playrg.games@gmail.com with the subject Delete my data.

Nothing else is needed. You do not have to explain why, and there is nothing to prove — the DATA ID is the only thing that connects the records to your copy of the game.

Prefer to stop being identified instead of deleting? The same settings screen has a button that reads GAME DATA FULL or ANONYMOUS ONLY. Switching to anonymous only takes effect immediately: the game keeps sending gameplay statistics, but with no DATA ID and no other identifier, so nothing from then on can be linked to you. You can do both: switch, and still ask for what was already recorded under your DATA ID to be deleted. Copy the DATA ID before you switch; the settings line stops showing it once you are anonymous.

What is deleted, and when

DataWhat happens
Gameplay event records tied to your DATA ID
stage numbers, results, duration, upgrades bought
Deleted. Removed from the exported analytics tables within 30 days of the request. A request covering the same records is submitted to Google for its reporting console at the same time, and Google processes that on its own schedule — see how long it takes.
Your DATA ID itself Deleted along with the records it tags. A new random one is generated if you later reinstall.
Your game progress
coins, stages cleared, upgrades, survivors
Never sent to the developer. It is stored on your device, and — only if you signed in to Google Play Games — as a backup in your own Google account. Uninstalling the game, or clearing its storage in Android settings, removes the copy on the device. We hold no copy of either, so there is nothing here for us to delete; the backup is yours to remove, as described below.
Aggregate counts
e.g. "how many players finished stage 12"
Retained. These are totals that were never linked to any DATA ID and cannot be traced back to a person.

How long it takes

Requests are handled by one person, so allow a few days for a reply. There are two copies of the records, and they are honest to separate because only one of them is ours to promise a date for.

The exported analytics tables. This is the copy the developer holds, and it is the one the reports are actually read from. Your records are removed from it within 30 days of the request, and you will get an email confirming it is done.

Google's own reporting console. Deletion there is a request submitted to Google, not something the developer performs. Google states that such a request takes between 7 and 63 days to process, and that data must be more than twelve days old before it can be deleted at all. The request is submitted the same day yours arrives; the schedule after that is Google's, which is why this page does not put a date on it.

Records are kept only for as long as they are useful for improving the game, and are deleted on request in any case.

Your Play Games backup

If you signed in to Google Play Games, your saved progress — the stage you reached, your coins, and which survivors and weapons you own — is kept in your own Google account, not on any server belonging to the developer. The developer cannot read it and cannot delete it for you, so emailing the DATA ID does not remove it.

You remove it yourself, the same way you would for any other game: open the Play Games app, go to your profile, find Hordelane, and delete its saved game; or delete the game's data from your Google account settings. Signing in also lets the game see the gamer name and avatar on your Play Games profile. That name is used only to show whose backup is being restored, is never sent to the developer, and appears in none of the analytics records described above — so there is nothing of it for us to delete.
